ABOUT SUE
The start of my own coaching journey began several years ago when I suffered from stress and burnout. This trauma forced me to admit that the “work” part of my life wasn’t going the way I wanted it to.
Using life coaching, I was able to challenge my limiting beliefs with the support of my coach, and to take the first steps toward changing my life significantly and very much for the better. I was able to achieve my goals although some of them I considered to be way beyond me! That was a major lesson for me. Coaching really is about "finding solutions to achieve the seemingly impossible".
I have been working as a life coach since 2007 (with a few breaks in between to achieve some of my personal goals). I have been involved in the personal growth and development world for many years, starting with the Association for Humanistic Psychology (AHP) and I had several periods of tenure as Chair of the Association.
My own personal development journey started at an AHP experiential conference in the 1980s and I have led and co-led a significant number of one-off and experiential groups, durations of which were anywhere from three hours to seven days. I have worked in the UK, USA and Europe.
I have an honours degree in humanities, a diploma in psychology, a management qualification, and I am a trained life coach. I am also an accredited teacher of Co-Counselling.
Just as important as my qualifications is the fact that I have experience of knowing how it feels to reach a place in your life when you know that you have to make changes.
Now, I love my life – the ups and the downs – and I am happier than I have ever been. No-one’s life is perfect and I am no exception but I have learned that being essentially fulfilled and content makes the difficult times so much easier to deal with.
For me, the best thing about coaching is identifying goals and working towards achieving them; having something to look forward to; and celebrating when it happens.
